Growing Pains

Hook:
I’m workin’ hard and tryna keep on
Cuz I gotta get where I’m goin’
My mislead times help keep me in line,
Just dealin’ wit the pains of growing

Verse 1:
(So much I’ve learned by doing things the hard way,
Not my mom’s way, not God’s way,
It was my way, or it was no way,
You could say that I grew up on that one way,
And that one way, ain’t what it should’ve been,
But young boys love actin’ like grown men,
Just tryna ride with no defined mission,
I was tryna drive with backseat vision)

It seems only consequence, could convince me to switch,
I was hard-head and hardly ever knew when to quit,
Man I rowed my own boat, and could barely stay afloat,
But I thought that I was holding mine on my daily grind,
And I never realized who kept my neck above water,
Never let me drown, though I’ve been knocked down a few rounds,
I’ve always had a place to go, just didn’t have the right directions,
Now there’s only one way at every intersection

Verse 2:
You catch a lot of pain growin’ when you knowin’ you know better
Used to leave home havin’ paid no attention to the weather,
Packin’ light, then later I was wishin’ I took a sweater,
Unequipped and I was thinkin’ I was ready for whatever,
Man whatever you’re standing on, that’s makin’ you look tall
Causes a greater impact that does more damage when you fall,
Don’t be in a rush to shoot just cuz you finally got the ball,
Most know-it-all’s turn out to not know very much at all

(Growing up, can sometimes be as hard as breakin’ up,
It’s like wakin’ up, and the sky’s a different color blue,
Grass a different color green, things ain’t the same way they were
When you last seen
So many things seem so hard to deal wit
And everybody talkin’ bout what they can’t deal wit,
Regardless of what it is, we still gotta handle biz,
No worries cause I know the battle’s not mine, but His

Verse 3:
(Age ain’t nothin’ but a number)
In relation to wisdom, U young but that don’t mean that U “Is dumb”
We’ve all seen a lot but how do you apply what you’ve been learnin’
Are you stubborn or humble enough to heed a warnin’
(You really ain’t doin’ much of nothin’)
If you ain’t doin’ what you’re supposed to do,
What kind of man are you,
You’ve got a family but the only one who’s eatin’ is you,
You can’t raise a baby if you’re still a baby too
Man at some point we’ve all gotta change,
(And put away childish thangs,
And stop the childish games,
Look for answers and not someone to blame
So we can start to look more like what we claim,
We are, how far do we have to go,
Til the end of the road just keep on goin’
Down the stream, I’ma keep on rowin’ and
Dealin’ wit the pains of growin’)
